Grief and Loss as experienced by the Newcomer to Canada
ATESL Conference 2023
Heather was able to speak at the ATESL Conference 2023 #ateslcon2023. The participants were introduced to William Worden’s Grief Theory: the Four Tasks of Mourning and how it was very familiar to the concept of culture shock. The “aha” moment came when culture shock, the tasks of mourning and the Theory of the Learning Cycle intersected. Suggestions for lesson plans regarding grieving and mental health were also discussed.
